Gresh & Zo: Credit Bruins' Effort In Loss To Blues

BOSTON (CBS) - The Bruins were without captain Zdeno Chara Thursday night in St. Louis, so coming away with a win against the playoff bound Blues was considered by many to be a tall task.

Trailing 2-0 and trending downward early on in the second period, the B's rallied to tie it in the third to force overtime, where a lucky bounce on a wrist shot by T.J. Oshie gave the Blues the 3-2 win.

A win was not in the cards, but it certainly wasn't for lack of trying.

Andy Gresh and Scott Zolak thought the team played hard.

"That was a really good point," Gresh said Friday morning to open the show. "They got on the road and fought against what most hockey folks would consider one of the elite teams in the NHL."

"You appreciate the team when they go out and play their ass off. If they go out, skate hard and do what they're supposed to do, you come away happy regardless of the outcome," said Zo. "That Montreal game a week ago? What was that?"

Two goals midway through the third by David Krejci and Brad Marchand evened the game at two apiece, and this "never say die" attitude has served them well all season - a main reason why they're at the top of their division.

"Look at how this team has played in the third period this season. I think they are a +30 goal differential in the third period. Doesn't that tell you that they're finishing games? When the game is on the line they're either putting people away or they're getting back into games. There's no quit in this team. The way they fought back in this game? That's a talented team they played."
