Gresh & Zo Chat With Patriots RB Shane Vereen
BOSTON (CBS) - Patriots running back Shane Vereen was back in action Monday night after a broken wrist in Week 1 sidelined him for eight games.
The third-year pro joined Gresh and Zo Wednesday afternoon.
The interview started with what Vereen's presence means to the team, especially in terms of third down offense, and how it's different with him in the lineup.
Zo asks, can this offense be a juggernaut now that the skill players are all healthy?
"Everybody has their own job," said Vereen. "The way they teach it is we focus on our job and do what we have to do personally, and everything will come together as a group."
"Obviously we want to be a good offense, we got a lot of work to do. But we are putting in the work."
Vereen then talked about fellow running back Stevan Ridley, and how that position group "picked him up" on the sidelines after coughing up yet another fumble Monday night, adding, "he's harder on himself than anybody else."
Gresh wanted to know more about Vereen's versatility, and balancing the physical aspect of running the ball with the finesse aspect of catching passes.
But for Vereen, it's all the same.
"In my mind it's all part of the game. It's all part of my role on the team. It's all part of what they ask me to do as a running back. It's my job to do both."
The Carolina game was put to rest, and a look ahead was given to the Denver Broncos and Peyton Manning coming to town Sunday night.
Vereen is looking forward to the challenge of playing a "fast, good defense" - and left it at "it's going to be fun on Sunday."
