Gresh & Zo: Brandon Lloyd & The Pats - A Match Made In Heaven?
98.5 The Sports Hub's Gresh & Zolak discussed free agent receiver Brandon Lloyd on Monday, as he makes a full campaign to join the New England Patriots.
NFL free agency is just a day away, but Scott Zolak is not feeling Lloyd, who is coming off back-to-back seasons of 70+ receptions?
"There is no doubt about it he can run routes," said Zolak. "The guy is a fantastic route runner and I think he has good body control. Speaking of control though, I don't know what kind of control he has between his ears, and that could be the issue."
The Boston Globe's Greg Bedard had an article out over the weekend which did not make Lloyd sound all that appealing to "The Patriots' Way." Officials from his previous NFL stops called Lloyd "moody and surly depending on the day," and "a bit selfish."
"I don't know what it is, maybe it's the campaigning. Maybes it's doing the interviews of how much he wants to be a member here; I get scared that this would be his sixth team in nine years," said Zolak. "I look at what Lloyd has said since he's been out there. If you know this team and how they operate, if there is any interest or contact with people… they would keep this quite."
"This has never been step one of that process before a guy coming here... it's done under the most stealth circumstances with this team. They keep things quite," said Zolak. "If there is any contact what so ever, he is being told to keep his mouth shut."
"I don't think Lloyd is the guy, I really don't," said Zo.
The guys also broke down some other free agents that may fit in with the Pats.
