Gresh & Zo: Big Week For Darrelle Revis
BOSTON (CBS) - Andy Gresh and Scott Zolak started off Tuesday's show looking ahead to this week's big matchup against Peyton Manning and the Denver Broncos. On Sunday down at Foxboro, the high powered Broncos offense will be facing this revamped defensive secondary of the New England Patriots.
The main reason Belichick brought Darrelle Revis here to New England, Gresh and Zo posit, was for this very matchup.
Former Patriot and current Bronco Aqib Talib has been excellent out in Denver, and there's been some talk recently about which corner you'd rather have.
"He's a way better player than Talib, I don't think Talib can hold his jock," Zo said of Revis, "I think he's pretty damn good, but I think Darrelle is a planet player."
As far as x's and o's go, Gresh and Zolak both feel like Revis will be assigned Demaryius Thomas, unless it's a special situation or another receiver really gets hot during the game.
"I think Darrelle recognizes that this is a massive week. This is why he's here. It will be his job to shutdown Thomas for the entire game," said Zo. "It has been his job since the Patriots signed him back in March."
In certain downs and distances, Zo wouldn't be surprised to see Revis lined up on Emmanuel Sanders in some situations.
It'll be an "all hands on deck" situation for the Patriots secondary, as Gresh feels like the Patriots will carry more defensive backs for this game.
