Gresh and Zo: Goodell Hands Down Excessive Punishment On Saints
Gresh & Zo were ready to roll into the lunchtime hour on Wednesday when there was some breaking news in the NFL: Four New Orleans Saints players have received suspensions for their involvement in the bounty scandal.
Scott Fujita (now with the Cleveland Browns) has been suspended for three games, defensive lineman Anthony Hargrove (now with the Green Bay Packers) for eight games, Will Smith four games, and in the most severe punishment handed down, Saints linebacker Jonathan Vilma will have to sit out the entire 2012 NFL season.
"This is excessive," Gresh said. "We know people knew [about the bounties]. There's a lot of stuff that goes on in locker rooms that isn't kosher that the guys know about, but you're not saying anything. ... I hope the NFL rolls out evidence as to why Vilma got the year [suspension]."
"If you're Carolina, you're Atlanta, [you're celebrating]," Zolak said. "This is the hammer, baby."
What do yo think? Are the suspensions handed down by the NFL too harsh?
