Governor Patrick Talks Trade In Israel
JERUSALEM (AP) -- Gov. Deval Patrick has met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and other top political leaders as he continues a trade mission aimed at strengthening economic ties between Massachusetts and Israel.
The governor's office said Patrick and members of his delegation visited with Netanyahu in Jerusalem on Wednesday. He also met with Deputy Foreign Minister Danny Avalon and Deputy Prime Minister Dan Meridor, as well Tzipi Livni, chair of the opposition Kadima Party.
Patrick said in a statement that he brought a message of "collaboration, friendship and steadfast support" for the State of Israel. He also said Massachusetts and Israel are both committed to innovation and entrepreneurship.
Earlier in the day, Patrick met in Haifa with Mayor Yona Yahav and students at Haifa University.
