Governor Patrick Heads Out Of State Again
BOSTON (AP) -- Gov. Deval Patrick is heading out of state again, this time to cultivate potential political supporters.
Patrick is meeting with City Year volunteers in Boston's Roxbury neighborhood Thursday morning before heading to New York City later in the day.
Steve Crawford, a spokesman for Patrick's political committee, said the goal of the trip is to meet with a group of potential backers. He said it's not a fundraiser. He declined to identify who was attending the meeting.
Patrick is trying to retire a campaign debt of about $150,000 from his successful reelection campaign last year.
He will stay overnight in New York before catching an early return flight to Massachusetts.
Patrick recently returned from a 10-day trade mission to Israel and England. Critics have faulted him for spending too much time out of state.
