With Christie Out Of Race, Gov. Baker Not Planning New Presidential Endorsement
BOSTON (AP) — Republican Gov. Charlie Baker's brief foray into presidential politics may be over for now.
Baker said this week he's not thinking about making another endorsement after New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie dropped out of the race following a disappointing finish in New Hampshire's primary Tuesday.
Baker had endorsed Christie in the Republican presidential primary. He said he spent time campaigning with Christie before the primary and thought he was terrific.
Baker has expressed concerns about the ability of two of the top Republican candidates — Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and New York businessman Donald Trump — to forge common ground in a divided Washington.
The Massachusetts presidential primary is March 1.
