Gov. Patrick Keeping Low Profile In August
BOSTON (AP) — Gov. Deval Patrick is keeping a low profile through much of August, with no public events on his official schedule through Monday.
Patrick's last event on his schedule was a cabinet meeting he held Aug. 2 at his Sweet P Farm in Richmond. His last public Statehouse event was a July 31 meeting of the Governor's Council.
August is typically a slow month on Beacon Hill, with few public hearings and little action taken by state lawmakers.
Patrick did find time last week to squeeze in a dinner with President Barack Obama and first lady Michelle Obama during their vacation on Martha's Vineyard.
Patrick is trying to plan out his final year and a half in the governor's office as attention begins to shift to the race to replace him.
