Gov. Baker Has No Interest In White House Run
BOSTON (AP) — Massachusetts voters hoping to cast a ballot for presidential candidate Charlie Baker will have to set their sights on someone else.
Baker says he won't be seeking the Republican nomination for president in 2016 — or ever.
Baker told reporters Friday that he's just not interested in running for the White House.
To drive home the point, Baker noted that his wife Lauren, who was standing in the governor's office during Friday's press conference, would vouch for his sole focus on Massachusetts.
Baker made the comment after returning from Republican Governors Association meetings in Colorado where he was elected to an executive committee.
Massachusetts has had its share of recent presidential contenders including John Kerry and Mitt Romney, both of whom won their party's nomination, but lost in the general election.
