Goucher On Moving Rask: 'I Don't Like It'
The Boston Bruins kept their win streak alive thanks to a 2-1 shootout win over the Blue Jackets Thursday night at the Garden.
The win came off a 30-save performance by goalie Tuukka Rask, his third straight win in net.
98.5 The Sports Hub's Bruins play-by-play announcer Dave Goucher spoke with Toucher & Rich about the team's seven game winning streak, a potential Rask trade and last year's Finals.
It seems like the team has turned things around after the rough start to the season. With their recent success, and undefeated November, are this year's Bruins better than the Stanley Cup Champion B's?
"They're pretty close to it. yeah. I think when it's all said and done, for me I think I'd like to see them add another player up front. Even with Tyler Seguin taking this big leap so far this year I still think they need a little more depth up front," said Goucher.
This season Claude Julien seems to be coaching with a new found confidence since winning the Cup, switching up the lines and not being afraid to bench struggling players. Does Goucher see a new version of Julien?
"I think there's a lot of heat off. Let's face it, when you do what they did last June I think that gives you a much longer leash. It's just a different feel to everything you do. You've done something no coach has done around here in 39 years," said Goucher.
Joe Haggerty was the first person to bring up the possibility of trading Tuukka Rask in order to land a player that the Bruins would need, maybe a the player up front that Goucher talked about. Could he see the Bruins moving netminder of the future?
"I don't like it; I don't know if there's much validity to it to be honest with you," said Goucher. "Let's face it, how much longer can Tim Thomas do this? Maybe a couple of years, maybe three. I don't know that. You could make an argument that the Bruins have the best goaltending tandem in the league, and here's the flip side to that. What if they move Tuukka and something, heaven forbid, happens to Tim Thomas?"
Former Bruin Mark Recchi sat down with Gresh & Zo on Thursday and said that in his 22 years they were the most arrogant team he played against and the most hated team he had ever played against. Has Goucher ever seen a hockey team act like the Cancucks did last season in the Finals?

"In the Finals last year I thought that because they were a Canadian-based team and no team from Canada had won it since '93 when Montreal won it, I thought all of Canada was pulling for the Canucks. I did a phone interview with a radio station in Toronto and we were pre-taping, and before the interview started the host says to me, 'Hey Gouch.' I said yeah. He says, 'Not for nothing but can't you guys beat those blank, blank, blanks," recalled Goucher.
Good to know it wasn't just Boston that felt that way.
