Got Milk? Home Delivery Dairies Around Boston

-By Steve Saleeba, CBS Boston

Back when I was a kid, every Wednesday, mom would serve my sisters and me each a plate of sunny side eggs that she had just plucked out of the chicken coop in the backyard. To wash it all down, I'd get a glass of farm-fresh ice cold milk that the local dairy had just dropped off earlier that morning. I know what most of you are thinking: "Man, you are old." While that may be true, the real truth is, to this day, there are still a handful of local dairies that do home delivery.

Home delivery is typically a bit more expensive than the supermarket, and normally comes with a delivery fee, but the difference in taste may just be worth it. In honor of June being National Dairy Month, I put together a list of some local dairies that deliver around Boston. So order up and drink up.

Thatcher Farm Dairy

Milton, MA 02186

Website

Thatcher Farm in Milton has been family-owned and operated business since 1891. Their milk makes a short trip from a family farm in North Haverhill, New Hampshire. From there, the dairy delivers the farm-fresh, glass-bottled milk to just about every community in the Boston-metro area. While Downtown Boston and Back Bay are listed on their home delivery route, the folks at Thatcher Dairy told CBS Boston that they do make a lot of business deliveries to that area, so residents interested in home deliveries can give them a call and they'll try to work something out.
