Google Bets on Framingham Company
BOSTON (CBS) - A small video game company in Framingham has attracted some major funding from Google Ventures, and its online game attracts thousands of fans.
Disruptor Beam, which has developed an online game, Game of Thrones Ascent, completed the round of funding. It also included Common Angels and Romulus Capital.

Disruptor Beam CEO Jon Radoff tells me the growth has been much faster than expected.
"We knew it was going to be popular, but when we launched the game, we got a huge number of people signing up for it right away. Several million have now installed the game in a pretty short period of time," he says.
Radoff tells me he tried to create a game that was more than just another "clicker" experience, as so many online games are.
Radoff says he started his company less than three years ago at Work Bar in Boston, and recently moved to Framingham.
Radoff describes himself as a serial entrepreneur. "I started my first game company when I dropped out of college about 20 years ago," he says.
Radoff says he has other ideas for games in the Science Fiction genre, and is working to make Game of Thrones Ascent available on all platforms.
