Gloucester Fire Displaces Residents, Destroys Pizza Restaurant
GLOUCESTER, Mass. (CBS/AP) — A fire in Gloucester has displaced several families and destroyed a pizza restaurant in the same building.
Firefighters responded to Fuller Street shortly before 9:30 a.m. Sunday. Officials say the blaze appears to have started in the kitchen of the Magnolia House of Pizza on the first floor and spread to the rest of the building, which includes several apartments.
Authorities say no one was injured, but some pets were lost and at least eight people were displaced from their homes.
Four young boys riding their bikes saw smoke rising from the restaurant and rode to a nearby firehouse, pounding on the door to alert firefighters, according to Good Morning Gloucester. At the same time, calls began coming in to authorities about the fire.
Fire officials said the fire started in a utility closet in the restaurant, where there are lots of electrical wires.
