Globe Wins Pulitzer For Boston Bombing Coverage
BOSTON (AP) — Journalists at The Boston Globe are honoring the victims of last year's marathon bombings after being awarded a Pulitzer Prize for the paper's coverage of the attack.
Monday's announcement of the award came as the city prepares for Tuesday's anniversary of the bombing. Members of the paper's staff tweeted that the newsroom held a moment of silence for the victims.
The Pulitzer committee says the Globe won in the breaking news category for its "exhaustive and empathetic coverage of the Boston Marathon bombings and the ensuing manhunt that enveloped the city, using photography and a range of digital tools to capture the full impact of the tragedy."
Three people were killed and more than 260 wounded in the attack, transforming a typically celebratory event into a scene of horror and heroics.
