9-Year-Old Dies After Being Dragged, Struck By School Bus In Plainfield
PLAINFIELD (CBS) -- A 9-year-old girl was killed after being dragged and struck by a school bus Friday afternoon.
According to State Police, the girl was exiting the bus on South Central Street in Plainfield around 4p.m. Police say she got caught on the door and was dragged when the driver pulled away. She was then hit and killed by the bus.
The bus stayed at the scene while police responded.
The girl was a student at an area school, and several other students were on the bus at the time of the incident.
Authorities have not released the name of the school or the bus company. Investigators are interviewing the male driver.
The incident remains under investigation.
