Giovanni's Heart-Broken Mother Hopes New Photo Of Her Missing Child Breaks Case
LYNN (CBS) - The mother of a missing boy from Lynn hopes a new picture will encourage someone to come forward with information about his disappearance.
Daisy Colon says, "It's hard. It's hard because I don't want to accept that time has gone by. I do realize that time has gone by. I do realize he's not 5 no more. He's 7. I always picture him in my mind like 5."
Daisy last spoke with her son Giovanni in August 2008 when she dropped him off at his father, Ernesto Gonzalez' home in Lynn. When she went to pick him up two days later, Gonzalez denied ever seeing the boy.
Daisy Colon worked with the Center for Missing and Exploited Children to create a new picture of what Giovanni could look like today. She says it is difficult to see. "In my mind, I see him like my five year old baby. I don't see him like he's grown up. It's think of hard because i'm missing two years of it."

While looking at the picture is difficult for Daisy, she is grateful to the Center's help to keep Giovanni in people's minds. She explains, "Even though it's hard for me and hard to accept how long has gone by, I need to get it out, to make people aware. Yes, he's changed, he's not the same little boy."
Ernesto Gonzalez is behind bars charged with kidnapping and misleading police. His trial is expected to be held in the spring. Investigators say they have finished their testing, but will not comment on what they found.
After all this time, what makes Daisy think Giovanni is still alive? "The only thing that keeps me going is the feeling I have inside, that i can sense he is alive."
