Giant Snowblower Covers West Roxbury Homes With Dirt, Ice

BOSTON (CBS) - Four homes on Howitt Road in West Roxbury are plastered with snow, ice and dirt from the roadway.

Ilene DeAngelo said she witnessed the violation Wednesday afternoon. "Public Works truck and big construction vehicle behind it was throwing snow on my neighbors' houses," said DeAngelo. The big construction vehicle was a giant snowblower.

Her house was last in line. "I couldn't believe it. It was completed pasted with all snow and ice," said DeAngelo.

The side of her house up to the roof is covered in chunks of brown slush. Three of her neighbors' homes have fronts that are caked in brown slush.

Trudy Reen was inside when her house was pelted. "It was a thunderous noise," said Reen.

She said she tried to clear the icy dirt mix from her walkway. "Snow is easier to move, but this slush with a lot of dirt in it - it is kind of rugged to move it around," said Reen.

DeAngelo caught up with the public works crew. She called the contractor's company, public works and the mayor's office. She said the mayor's office told her to call the complaint line. The contractor's company, she said, requested photos and said the owner could call her.

She also filed a police report.

"This is our tax dollars. My property is destroyed." said DeAngelo.

WBZ contacted the Mayor's office – they are looking into the matter.
