Georgetown Residents Curious As FBI Investigation Continues
GEORGETOWN (CBS) -- A lot of people in Georgetown want to know what's going on after a team of police showed up at a house on Friday and are still there today.
The home belongs to 85 -year-old Peter Haskell, who died a month ago. A Korean War veteran, Haskell spent much of his time over the years involved in youth sports.
"Very nice guy, very sports oriented," said Noreen Berkland, a neighbor. "He did a lot for kids, under-privileged kids."
According to Berkland, Haskell would often help kids who couldn't pay to play sports afford the costs.
Georgetown residents said the ongoing search is unusual for the community.
"It's a very small town, this is probably the most excitement we've had since I've lived here," one woman, who has lived in Georgetwon for 37 years, said.
It's also disruptive, though. Berkland said she wants some answers about why local police and the FBI have been digging in Haskell's yard and basement.
"The Essex County District Attorney could issue a statement and it would be much appreciated because this is disruptive," she said.
