Boston Attorney Charged With Sexual Assault For Fourth Time

BOSTON (CBS) - A former Suffolk County assistant district attorney is facing rape charges in connection with an alleged sexual assault that took place earlier this month in Boston.

Gary Zerola, 45, of Boston was arrested Wednesday and arraigned in Boston Municipal Court later in the day.

He was charged with two counts of rape after an incident that occurred early in the morning of November 10.

According to prosecutors, the victim and defendant know each other.

This is the fourth time Zerola, now a criminal attorney, has been charged with sexual assault. He was not convicted in any of the three prior cases.

Wednesday's hearing comes eight years after Zerola faced multiple sexual assault charges.

A judge ordered Zerola held on $10,000 cash bail. He must wear a GPS monitoring bracelet and observe a curfew from 9:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., stay away from, and have no contact with, the victim and not consume any alcohol.

In 2001, Zerola was named as one of People Magazine's most eligible bachelors.

The next scheduled hearing in this case is January 4.
