Gammons On Toucher & Rich: Time For Lester To 'Ditch The Cutter'
BOSTON (CBS) - Jon Lester takes the mound for the Boston Red Sox on Wednesday night up in Toronto, looking for his first win in August.
Lester has enjoyed success against the Blue Jays in his career, and is 3-0 with a 2.79 ERA against Toronto this season.

After a 4-0 start to the season Lester is just 6-7 since April, but Peter Gammons has a very simple solution for the Sox lefty.
"Ditch the cutter and stop trying to rear back on his back leg," Gammons said on 98.5 The Sports Hub's Toucher & Rich on Wednesday. "He's effective when he's tall and down in the zone; fastball, changeup, curve. He fell in love with that cutter – it ended Jim Abbot's career and almost ended Andy Pettitte's. I do believe [Lester will] come back and be very good."
"It'll be interesting to watch him tonight. It's at the point where it's there, but he's got to get his mechanics back and not get so upset with himself," said Gammons.
