Funeral In Winchester For Ex-Navy SEAL Killed In Libya Attack
WINCHESTER (CBS/AP) — Hundreds of mourners paid their final respects Wednesday to the Winchester native who died in the attack on the U.S. consulate in Libya last week.
A funeral Mass for Glen Doherty was held this morning at St. Eulalia church in his hometown.
Doherty, 42, was a former Navy SEAL who was working as a private security contractor at the consulate when he and three other Americans were killed Sept. 11.
Hundreds of mourners including Gov. Deval Patrick attended a wake on Tuesday. Scores of others lined the streets, waving flags and holding up signs of support for Doherty's family.
Flags lined his family's neighborhood in Woburn and the funeral route in Winchester.
A law enforcement official told CBS News Wednesday afternoon that a contingent of FBI agents have arrived in Libya to investigate the deaths of Doherty and the three other Americans.
