Fundraisers Held For Richard Family
BOSTON (CBS) -- Through song, dance and music, the people of Boston are coming together this weekend to heal and honor those greatly impacted by the Boston Marathon bombings.
"We've all gone through so much," Boston City Singers Director Melissa Graham said.
On Saturday, one particular girl was on everyone's mind, 7-year-old Jane Richard of Dorchester. She was at the Boston Marathon finish line with her family when the bombs exploded. Jane lost her leg and her older brother, Martin, died in the explosion.
"Even though we don't know them personally we empathize with the family," Irish step dancer Joe Harrison said. "Martin Richard lost his life and she lost her leg."
This weekend, fundraisers were taking place all across the City of Boston for the Richard family. Jane not only loved to sing but dance as well. Hundreds gathered at St. Mark's Church in Dorchester to sing for Jane and for peace.
"This is our way of saying if she is not with us, we will be with her when she gets out of hospital," Dance Out of Jane member Catherine Ternes said.
