From The Makers Of Cyber Monday, 'Giving Tuesday' Urges Charitable Donations
BOSTON (CBS) --- While Black Friday and Cyber Monday are all about emptying your wallet for the sake of holiday gift giving, 'Giving Tuesday' is about giving back to those in need.
But you may be surprised to know the people behind the newest holiday trend, are the same ones who coined Cyber Monday.

'Giving Tuesday' Promotes Charitable Giving In Wake Of Cyber Monday
New York's 92nd Street Y served as an incubator for Giving Tuesday, relying on Henry Timms and Kathy Calvin. Calvin was instrumental in branding Cyber Monday with AOL.
Senior Associate of the United Nations Foundation, a Giving Tuesday partner, Anastasia Dellacio says Giving Tuesday, now in its second year, has grown exponentially.
"Honestly what makes the movement such a success is that we're almost at 7,000 partners," Dellacio said, "and thousands of social media ambassadors that make it a success."
Another perk of Giving Tuesday is that you don't have to go away empty-handed.
Dellacio pointed to products that many charitable organizations sell with proceeds going back to the organization, as a way to check people off your gift list while still participating in Giving Tuesday.
"You can make it about buying a present and knowing that your gift is giving back twice," she said.
