From Sun To Clouds

We will squeeze out another dry day today. We will have sunny skies in the morning followed by mostly cloudy skies later this evening.  Highs will be in the middle to upper 60s...cooler w/ upper 50s to lower 60s along the coast.  The strong ridge of high pressure will lose grip slowly as we approach midweek.  A weak warm frontal boundary will force me to introduce a chance of a spot shower, mainly north and west of town, early Tuesday morning. Otherwise, Tuesday will be a mostly cloudy, yet dry day for the most part.

Watch Melissa's forecast:

Midweek Rain: The next bona fide chance of rain will be Wednesday as a cold front slowly travels west to east.  This cold front is projected to cross Southern New England from approximately 10am - 6pm.  This is the time slot that will most likely produce showers and thunderstorms.   Then, the upper level trough at the 500mb cuts off into an upper level low. This acts as a pinwheel Thursday into Friday. Minor disturbances will spiral around this area of low pressure, which will leave us with a slim chance of a few afternoon showers and partly cloudy to partly sunny skies.

Mother's Day Weekend:  Models are not in agreement when forecasting Mother's Day this Sunday, May 8. Both models do show a dry day on Saturday with highs in the lower to middle 60s.  However, the GFSx shows a surface low producing a rainy Mother's Day while the EURO keeps us dry and holds off the rain until Monday. I hope the EURO has it right! :)
