Freetown Mother Charged With Abusing Infant Son
FREETOWN, Mass. (AP) — A Freetown woman has been arrested for allegedly physically abusing her 7-month-old son.
Police Chief Carlton Abbott Jr. says 33-year-old Meaghan Vogel is charged with assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon and reckless endangerment of a child.
Vogel is being held on $5,000 bail and is scheduled to be arraigned Monday in Fall River District Court.
It was unclear if she had a lawyer.
Police say Vogel's husband drove the baby to Tobey Hospital in Wareham just before 4 p.m. Saturday. A family member called police.
The child was released from the hospital into the protection of the Department of Children and Families.
Police say the boy sustained injuries to his face and body.
