Franklin High School Sucker Punch Suspect Facing Charges
FRANKLIN (CBS) - The student accused of viciously sucker punching another student at Franklin High School will face felony assault charges, according to police.
On Friday, officers identified the attacker as David Salmon. Officers say he ambushed Cory Pingeton because he thought Pingeton was "talking trash" about him.
"It just shouldn't happen. It's not good for the community," Pingeton told WBZ-TV Friday. "It doesn't represent my school well."
The attack was recorded on video Thursday and posted on Twitter. Police say that's proof the attack was planned.
Pingeton wound up with a fracture in his face.
"After the kid hit me he proceeded to say stuff to me and call me a b*** as he walked out of the school," Cory said. "I was defenseless."
Police also plan to file charges against the teenager who recorded the assault.
The Franklin School District called the attack "cowardly." The Superintendent says the school will launch their own independent investigation next week.
