Francona: Red Sox Gonzalez 'Ahead Of Schedule'
FORT MYERS, Fla (CBS) - New Red Sox first baseman Adrian Gonzalez is ahead of schedule, according to manager Terry Francona.
"He's doing great," Francona said. "His progression is way further along than we thought it would be."

Gonzalez took 75 swings (a combination of soft toss and off a tee) on Wednesday as he recovers from offseason shoulder surgery. He will get Thursday off and swing again on Friday, when the team hopes to incorporate some hitting in the batting cage.

There was no update as to when Gonzalez can begin participating in game action, but Gonzalez has said throughout the spring he will be ready for the season opener April 1st in Texas.
