Six People Robbed Since Monday In Cambridge Mugging Spree
CAMBRIDGE (CBS) – Police say six people have now been mugged in five separate attacks in Cambridge this week.
The latest incidents happened late Tuesday night in two separate muggings on Marney Street and Dana Street.
In all, six people have been robbed in five separate attacks starting Monday night:
- Monday, 8:15 p.m. – Woman robbed while walking on Marney Street
- Monday, 8:45 p.m. – Deliveryman robbed on Thorndike Street
- Tuesday, 1:30 a.m. – Two men walking together were robbed on Hancock and Chatham (this robbery may not be connected, according to police)
- Tuesday, 11:45 p.m. – Man robbed on Marney Street
- Tuesday, 11:53 p.m. – Man robbed on Dana Street

Police said that in four of the five attacks, two black men in their early 20's and about 5'7" - 5'8" robbed people at gunpoint, taking cell phones, wallets and purses.
- Most of the victims were men walking alone
- Suspects have struck between 8 p.m. and 2 a.m.
- Sometimes the suspects have a getaway car, but most of the time they run away
"They come up from behind the victims. They grab 'em or yell at 'em to get their attention. They show a firearm or threaten to show a firearm. They take all the property from the victims and then they flee," said Deputy Superintendent Jack Albert of the Cambridge Police Department.
A female victim tells WBZ that two armed men put a gun to her stomach as she got out of her car Monday night on her way home from work. This was the first robbery on Marney Street.
"All of a sudden I feel something on my belly and someone saying give me your money," she said. "I gave them everything. They said 'is that all you have, where's the rest of the money?' I said, 'that's all I have'."
No victims have been hurt in any of the robberies.
"It was a big gun, that's all I could see," said the victim. "I thought I was going to die."
"I'm scared to walk down my own street to my own house."
There have been no arrests yet, but investigators say they do have some leads.
"Do not resist. Your property is not worth you being injured. In most of these cases the victim turned over the property. They were not injured. They went home," said Dep. Supt. Albert.
