Former Patriots LB Brandon Spikes Signs With Bills
BOSTON (CBS) – Brandon Spikes' reunion with the Patriots never came to fruition after he fled from the scene of a crash on Interstate 495 last summer.
But the hard-hitting linebacker will get a chance at redemption with one of New England's AFC East rivals as he signed with Rex Ryan's Buffalo Bills on Sunday.
Spikes was released by the Patriots in June 2015 a day after his Mercedes was found abandoned on the median strip on I-495 in the early morning hours.
The linebacker, who played in New England from 2010-13 and in Buffalo in 2014, claimed initially that he hit a deer. No deer was found in the area, but around the same time another driver reported being rear-ended.
Spikes pleaded guilty to leaving the scene of an accident several weeks after the crash.
He served a four-game suspension to start last season, though Spikes never signed with a team until Sunday.
