Former Celtics Guard Nate Robinson Works Out For Seattle Seahawks
BOSTON (CBS) -- Nate Robinson has been playing basketball in Israel, but the former Boston Celtics guard wants to become a two-sport athlete.
Robinson reportedly worked out for the Seattle Seahawks as a defensive back on Monday, according to a tweet by the Washington Post's Master Tesfatsion. According to the Post's Mark Maske, the Seahawks did not sign Robinson to a deal after the workout.
Robinson declared his desire to play in the NFL back in March, and told ESPN in an April interview that the Patriots were one of the teams that called him for a potential workout. Bill Belichick, having employed former rugby players and track & field stars, is no stranger to players switching sports.
The 5-foot-9 Robinson, a speedy, athletic guard with a famously high vertical leap, may have the physical tools to play corner, but perhaps not at the NFL level. He played the position at Rainier Beach High School in Seattle. He started seven games at cornerback for the University of Washington before quitting football to focus on basketball.
