Quincy Businesses Brace For 'Headache' Caused By Fore River Bridge Construction
QUINCY (CBS) – Drivers and business owners alike are expecting a long summer as construction on the Fore River Bridge will impact traffic in Quincy and Weymouth in the upcoming months.
The busy stretch of Route 3A will be reduced to one lane of traffic in each direction starting after the afternoon commute on Friday.

According to MassDOT, the most likely alternate route for drivers who are familiar with the are would be to avoid the bridge through the Southern Artery, Quincy Ave., Commercial Street and North Street.
As a result, traffic could become heavy through Weymouth Landing.
Police details will be provided along the route, message boards are in place, and signal timing changes have been made at intersections likely to be impacted.

Mike Mazzini, who runs a fireplace store in Quincy, said he has already lost customers due to the ongoing construction.
"They're just avoiding the area. If they come down, they get confused they go around the rotary and they give up," Mazzini told WBZ NewsRadio 1030's Doug Cope.
Despite the hassle expected over the summer, Mazzini said it will be worthwhile in the long run.
"I think it's going to be really nice when it's all said and done. It's going to be a nice entry point for Quincy," said Mazzini. "The streets are all going to be done over. It's going to be really nice. But until then we've got the headache that we have to deal with."
