Boston Tops List Of Drunkest U.S. Cities For Second Year In A Row
BOSTON (CBS) - For the second year in a row, Boston has topped The Daily Beast's list of America's drunkest cities.
To compile the list, The Daily Beast analyzed data from Experian Marketing Services to determine the amount of alcohol consumed in each city, and then took into account the amount of heavy and/or binge drinkers in the city using information from the Centers for Disease Control.
According to their findings, last year adults in Boston consumed an average of 15.6 alcoholic drinks per month, 20.1% were classified as binge drinkers and 7.4% were classified as heavy drinkers.
Those numbers were virtually unchanged from The Daily Beast's 2011 report.
Other New England cities making the list in 2012 were Burlington, Vermont at No. 25, Springfield, Massachusetts at No. 14, Providence, Rhode Island at No. 10 and Hartford, Connecticut at No. 6.
