Flynn: Are We Underestimating The Ravens?
The Patriots beat the Broncos handily 45-10 and now turn their attention to the AFC Championship game and the Baltimore Ravens.
Former Ravens center Mike Flynn spoke with Toucher & Rich about underestimating the Ravens, Joe Flacco, the Patriots defense and Ed Reed.
The Patriots have gone from people questioning their defense in the middle of the season to now being a pretty big favorite to win it all. Are people underestimating this Ravens team?
"I think a little bit...I'm thinking to beat New England you're going to have to score at least 28 points. And that's the question, can the Baltimore Ravens do that? I don't know if they can right now you need things to bounce right."
No teams have really had an answer for Rob Gronkowski, Aaron Hernandez and Wes Welker. Taking a look at the Ravens defense how does Flynn think they'll handle these three guys?
"Against Houston there was a lot of zone, they do play a lot of man and blitz I just don't know how much they want to do that against Tom Brady."
Are the Patriots finding success on defense because they are getting hot at the right time or was it because they have seen the Denver Broncos once already this season and they were ready?
"I think it's a little bit of both, I think they played well in the last few games of the season, at least the second half of games."
Ed Reed fell awkwardly on his ankle and appeared to be in significant pain. Is this injury being downplayed and he's more hurt than we're being lead to believe?
"Ed's a competitor, he's going to play sometimes the dramatics around it he enjoys that too even though he's a quiet guy. It didn't look all that bad, I talked to a couple of guys on there he's fine, but I' don't know if that's the company line."
