Flying glass in Boston bar fight kills NY man
Prosecutors say a Massachusetts man angry after an argument with another bar customer has thrown a glass mug that broke and sent shards of grass into the neck of bystander from New York state, causing him to bleed to death.
Prosecutors say Hector Guardiola of Boston pleaded not guilty Monday in Roxbury District Court to a manslaughter charge in the death of Michael Dimaria, of Hicksville, N.Y. Bail has been set at $75,000.
A prosecutor said flying glass cut Dimaria' jugular vein. He was pronounced dead in hospital.
Assistant Suffolk District Attorney Ian Polumbaum said Dimaria was not involved in the argument that led to the glass throwing, nor were two other people injured by flying glass.
Guardiola's lawyer, Al Hutton, said his 25-year-old client has no history of violent behavior.
