Flags lowered to honor firefighters killed in CT
Gov. M. Jodi Rell has ordered flags at half-staff in honor of two Bridgeport firefighters who died fighting a blaze.
Bridgeport officials have scheduled a news conference Sunday to discuss the fire that killed Lt. Steven Velasquez and Michel Baik Saturday.
Rell said Sunday that flags will remain lowered until sundown on the day of their funerals, which have not yet been set.
City fire officials say the two men were found unconscious on the top floor of the three-story house after they sent out mayday calls. Efforts to revive them using CPR were unsuccessful, and they were pronounced dead at hospitals.
