Performers & Artists Gear Up For First Night Boston
BOSTON (CBS) - The stage is being set for First Night Boston 2014.
The ice sculptures are back and folks at the Boston Aquarium were already taking in the beauty on Friday.
"This will be a First Night to remember," First Night Chris Cook said.
Donald Chapelle of Brilliantice Sculpture was prepping his display in front of the Prudential building.
"We have three pieces, but right now I am standing in front of what will be called Nice Puppy," Chapelle said.
There will be hundreds of performances, exhibits, including a first of its kind huge, 3-D show at the Boston Public Library.
Zebbler studios is putting on the finishing touches right now.
"It's shaping up to be something incredible for sure. Sometime before midnight the entire library facade will be transformed into an incredible light show," Peter Zebbler said.
First Night is a daylong festival of arts, dance, music and a parade.
It's capped off with an amazing fireworks show. This year to make it more family friendly, Mayor Tom Menino made sure First Night buttons were only $10 as opposed to the $18 in previous years.
You can pick up your First Night Button at BosTix Kiosk on Copley Plaza, CVS, JP Licks and Bank of America Branches downtown.
