Victim Identified In Fatal Fire Sparked By Lawnmower
EAST BRIDGEWATER (CBS) -- One person has been killed in a fire at a home in East Bridgewater, according to the State Fire Marshal.
Officials say the victim, 86-year-old Bernadino Pellegrino, was found several feet away from the residence. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Preliminary investigations suggest that a riding lawnmower underneath the deck sparked the fire, State Fire Marshal Peter J. Ostroskey and East Bridgewater Fire Chief Timothy Harhen have stated.
The lawnmower fire caused the victim's clothing and the house to go up in flames.
Firefighters from multiple towns were called to the house on Beaver Village Way just before 9:30 a.m. Monday. Officials say the towns of Bridgewater, Whitman, West Bridgewater, Brockton, and Hanson assisted East Bridgewater in fighting the flames.

According to officials, the victim and his wife were the only people home at the time. One daughter also lives in the home.
Rev. Paul Ring, the family's priest said relatives are heartbroken.
"He was a very feisty man. He was full of life, he loved his family," remembered Ring. "He loved being at home, he loved working outside. He just loved life."
Damage could be seen around the entire house, especially to the roof and solar panels.
The fire remains under investigation.
