Felger & Mazz On: Tom Brady
With the Patriots first preseason game now only 1 day away, Felger & Mazz discuss Tom Brady's contract situation after he did a 1 on 1 interview with Yahoo! Sports Michael Silver.
Felger: "Tomorrow night is the first time Brady takes off the red jersey, the first time he can really get hit. And all of a sudden things are "cooking"? What does that mean? How does Brady feel? Is that just a pure coincidence things are cooking when they're about to play their first game? Or is it possible, that Brady himself, is a little uneasy over this? He wants something hammered out before he plays a real game and takes off that red jersey. The guy who's been vilified, Michael Silver of Yahoo! Sports, really wrote the first piece that got this thing going about a growing disconnect between Brady and the Patriots. Well, today, Michael Silver has a piece in which Tom Brady gives him an exclusive interview. Tom Brady has done no media this past year except that 1 day in training camp last week, and a quick thing that he did at his charity event. This is the first time he's given a 1 on 1 exclusive interview. And who did he give it to? Michael Silver. He gave it to the guy who started the ball rolling about the disconnect between Brady and Kraft. Why? Because Silver was writing the truth. What he wrote a month ago was 1000% accurate. In fact, it was endorsed today by the mere fact that Tom Brady has spoken to this guy and no one else. This is what Brady wants: He wants to be the highest paid guy in the league and not take a below market deal."
Massarotti: "It's obvious that Brady is uneasy at some level because there's been way too much smoke for there not to be fire on this thing. There have been multiple media outlets now that have reported Brady's dissatisfaction, or disconnect, with him and the Pats. He has been presented more than 1 opportunity to throw water on it and say, 'Nope. Not an issue. We'll take care of it next summer.' He has never said that. Brady ended up making $4 million less per year than what Manning made over that time. It's a lot. That's a lot of money."
