Felger & Mazz On: The Jets' Pathetic Offense
Rex Ryan watched his Jets offense play horrendously en route to a loss on Monday Night Football. Felger rips the Jets' pitiful performance, particularly Mark Sanchez. How ready is he for the NFL? Mazz heaps most of the blame on Ryan himself for over-exposing the team.
Felger: "Those two teams knocked the crap out of each other...Now you have the Jets on a short week, after an intensely physical game, they've lost one of their best defensive players in Jenkins. You've gotta feel bad for that guy. He's done for the year. By far the biggest concern for the team is the quarterback play. What else are they missing? That looked like a high school offense. They were what we thought they were last night! They were incredible on defense- aggressive, and all the good players were good...But the quarterback stunk! I don't think they were distracted, or too flat, just too quarterback-deficient. Their quarterback is not ready yet. He's not ready right now, just not."
Mazz: "I thought the Sunday game sucked. But the game last night, I loved everything about it! That was just good hard-hitting tough football, I love that! That was absolutely awful what they did last night. Rex Ryan I find thoroughly entertaining. Yes he's got personality. But he is setting that team up to fail. All this talk about Super Bowl...There's so much pressure on the Jets! And now they've played one game. Their offense sucked. Their nose tackle is done for the year. And now they're facing the Patriots. Not to mention they're in the middle of a scandal involving a Spanish reporter...All this because they put themselves out there, the coach first and foremost. Now everyone is scrutinizing every little thing about the team."
