Felger & Mazz: Mazzone On Bedard, 'One Of The Top Left-Handers I've Ever Been Around'

Massarotti and Bertrand switched gears to talk some baseball and were joined by former Atlanta Braves and Baltimore Orioles pitching coach Leo Mazzone to discuss the Red Sox newest arm Erik Bedard. Mazzone spent two years coaching Bedard in Baltimore and they were Bedard's best pitching seasons of his career. Since then Bedard has struggled to stay healthy and has been a huge disappointment.

Mazzone shares his experiences in working with Erik Bedard and the keys to keeping him healthy. Mazzone also shares pointers to Red Sox pitching Coach Curt Young on how to get the full potential out of Erik Bedard. Mazzone explains his process on how to keep a healthy pitching staff through October. Mazzone believes that If Bedard stays healthy he can be his dominant self once again and if Bedard is going to remain healthy and pitch in late October it will lie on the staff of Terry Francona and Curt Young.

With Clay Buchholz season in jeopardy The Red Sox look to Erik Bedard to help salvage the Red Sox pitching staff. Will Bedard's new home revamp his career? Can he be the Erik Bedard of '07? We all know what happened back in the year of 2007.
