Felger & Mazz: March 28, 2013
Felger and Massarotti opened the day discussing the Boston Bruins and their failed trade attempt to acquire Jarome Iginla. The Bruins believed they had a deal done to get Iginla, but the Pittsburgh Penguins swooped in and traded two prospects and a 2013 draft pick to get the Calgary forward. Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli took to the podium and Felger and Mazz went live to the press conference. Did something go wrong in the Bruins discussions with Iginla? Who is to blame? What are the Bruins other options to look into by the trade deadline?
Hour 1
In Hour 2, Felger, Mazz, and Marc Bertrand continued to talk about the Boston Bruins. The guys tried to put together the pieces of the Jarome Iginla to the Penguins deal. Did Iginla's agent screw Chiarelli? Who was in control during this entire process? If the Bruins were to pursue a player like Tampa Bay Lightning's Martin St. Louis, could they run into similar issues as they did with Iginla? Could Dallas Stars veteran Jaromir Jagr be on the Bruins radar? In other Bruins news, the team had a 6-5 shoot out loss to the Montreal Canadiens last night. What is the Bruins issue with holding leads? What makes last night's collapse different from others?
Hour 2
During Hour 3, Felger and Massarotti are still discussing Jarome Iginla's decision to go the Pittsburgh Penguins over the Boston Bruins. Was Iginla's choice to go the Pittsburgh based solely on the fact that the Penguins have a better shot at the Cup? Did Iginla just want to play with Sidney Crosby? Is there a hatred of the Bruins around the NHL? Did Iginla's choice have anything to do with Bruins ownership?
Hour 3
In the fourth and final hour, Felger and Mazz continue to talk about what options the Boston Bruins will have now that Jarome Iginla agrees to be traded to the Pittsburgh Penguins. The Bruins have plenty of cap space. How will they utilize it? What causes Felger to take back all the good things he has said about Bruins coach Claude Julien? The guys quickly talked a little Boston Celtics after last nights win over the Cleveland Pacers. Also, the Red Sox are closing in on Opening Day and have to make some roster cuts. Will Jackie Bradley Jr. make the cut? Finally, it's the Final Word with Marc Bertrand.
