Felger & Mazz: June 28, 2013
Hour 1
Tony Massarotti and Marc Bertrand kicked of the day discussing the blockbuster trade between the Boston Celtics and the Brooklyn Nets. The Celtics will send Paul Pierce, Kevin Garnett, and Jason Terry to the Nets for Gerald Wallace, Kris Humphries, MarShon Brooks, Keith Bogans, Kris Joseph, and 1st round picks in 2014, 2016, and 2018. It's obvious that this move is part of the rebuilding process, but should a move like this have been made last off-season? Jerry Thornton from Barstool Sports joined the guys to talk some Aaron Hernandez and the Bruins Stanley Cup run. Last night, other than the blockbuster, the Celtics had draft picks. They traded the Dallas Mavericks two second-round picks and the #16 pick to move up the #13 pick where the drafted Gonzaga big man Kelly Olynyk. The C's also sent cash considerations to the Indiana Pacers for the #53 pick. At #53, the Celtics picked another big man, Colton Iverson from Colorado State.
In Hour 2, Mazz and Marc talked about the Aaron Hernandez saga. How does the all the news surrounding Hernandez affect the New England Patriots organization? Does Patriots ownership have to crack down on the personnel that is being brought in? If the Kraft's crack down on who comes in, how will that affect Bill Belichick? With off-field issues, injuries, and players leaving for free agency, how will the Patriots offence look next year? How much will the Pats miss Wes Welker? Boston Bruins president, Cam Neely, said the general manager Peter Chiarelli deserves a contract extension. Should the B's extend Chiarelli?
Hour 2
During Hour 3 of Felger and Massarotti, Chris Gasper of the Boston Globe joined Mazz and Beetle to continue the discussion on the Aaron Hernandez saga. Who deserves the blame for taking a shot on Aaron Hernandez? Does Belichick have too much power when it comes to choosing player personnel? Taking a quick break from the Hernandez story, the guys talked about Doc Rivers and his decision to join the Los Angeles Clippers. Did Doc quit on the Celtics? Did the Celtics get enough for Rivers? Also, did the C's get enough back in trading Pierce, Garnett, and Terry to the Nets?
Hour 3
In the fourth and final hour, former Boston Celtics and current Los Angeles Clippers head coach Doc Rivers joined Tony and Marc. Doc discussed his decision to go to Los Angeles, his time in Boston, and his relationship with Danny Ainge. Finally, to end the week, we hear from Mad Mike and Squeaky Mazz in The Final Word with Adam Kaufman.
