Felger & Mazz: July 30, 2013
Hour 1
Felger and Massarotti kicked off the day discussing the Boston Red Sox and last night's 2-1 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays. John Farrell put Daniel Nava in as a pinch-runner in the 8th inning. Nava had his issues on the base path. Nava failed to score from second on a double to right field and then was thrown out at home in a controversial call at the plate. Did Farrell mismanage things last night? Is the Sox-Rays rivalry better than the Sox-Yankees rivalry right now? Is it fair to blame the umpires for last night's Sox loss?
In Hour 2, Felger and Mazz continued to talk some Red Sox and tomorrow's MLB Trade Deadline. Would the Sox be willing to move a top prospect for a player like Cliff Lee? Are there any prospects that the Sox would be willing to trade? There is a report that is saying the Sox are willing to do "whatever it takes" to acquire Miami Marlins outfielder Giancarlo Stanton. What would the Sox have to give up for a player like Stanton? To wrap up the hour, Adam Kaufman was given the opportunity to give a Hot Sports Take about Felger.
Hour 2
During Hour 3 of Felger and Massarotti, the guys changed gears to talk a little New England Patriots. Do the Pats need a high-powered offense to be successful? Is it better for the Patriots to be balanced on both sides of the ball? Will the Patriots running game be able to take some of the pressure off Tom Brady? Newest Patriots wide receiver Danny Amendola joined Felger and Mazz from practice at Gillette.
Hour 3
In the fourth and final hour, Felger and Mazz got back into last night's Red Sox 2-1 loss to the Rays. Did John Farrell mismanage last night's game? The guys also took calls on the Patriots and their start of training camp. At 4pm tomorrow, it's the MLB Trade Deadline. Do the Red Sox have to make a move? Finally, it's the Final Word with Adam Kaufman.
