Felger & Mazz: July 15, 2013
Hour 1
Felger and Massarotti kicked off the week discussing the Boston Red Sox and their performances in the first half of the season. At the All Star break, the Sox are only 11 wins away from tying last year's win total. They have the best record in baseball and a 2 1/2 game lead in the American League East. What have been the keys to turnaround? What should the Sox worry about in the second half? What do the Sox need to improve on down the stretch? Finally, Mazz is back from his vacation. Was it a vacation, relocation, or an "obli-cation" for Mazz?
In Hour 2, Felger and Mazz continued to discuss the Red Sox and manager John Farrell. Has Farrell been the savior of the Sox? How much of the Sox success has to do with an attitude adjustment? Who is the Sox shortstop of the future? Do the Sox have to address the closer situation by the trade deadline? To wrap up Hour 2, Felger gets Tony caught up on everything he missed while he was away.
Hour 2
During Hour 3 of Felger and Massarotti, Mazz continued to play catch-up. The guys discussed Jarome Iginla's decision to join the Boston Bruins. Also, David Ortiz set the record for hits by a Designated Hitter. Is David Ortiz a Hall of Famer? Should the Sox consider trading some youth for a closer? The guys went on to talk about Baltimore Orioles first baseman Chris Davis and his 37 home runs at the All Star break. Davis says he is clean. Should people believe him? Finally, Mike and Tony discussed the New England Patriots and Alfonzo Dennard. Should the Pats cut ties with Dennard?
Hour 3
In the fourth and final hour, Felger and Mazz continue to discuss the Red Sox at the All Star break. Have the Sox overachieved in the first half? What have been some of the keys of the Sox turnaround? Finally, it's the Final Word with Marc Bertrand.
