Felger & Mazz: Gammons Calls Rosenthal's Crawford Trade Report 'Inaccurate'

Peter Gammons of MLB.com joined Felger and Massarotti to discuss Carl Crawford and MLB Trade Rumors.

According to Fox Sports the Red Sox are gauging interest in Carl Crawford from other teams. Ken Rosenthal is reporting his sources say the Red Sox contacted both the Marlins and Dodgers about a potential blockbuster deal for Crawford.

"Inaccurate," said Gammons about the report. "I mean Rosie's one of my best friends. A couple of clubs have called them but the Marlins thing is not there. Heath Bell coming to Boston is comical; that would be like Zack Greinke coming to Boston."

Gammons goes on to say that he believes that the Red Sox will make a move by the July 31 deadline, stating that they most likely will be at the end of the Matt Garza trade talks. Will the Sox make a move? Are Crawford's days in Boston numbered? Gammons thinks that Crawford, along with Adrian Gonzalez, are players that the Red Sox can build around.

The guys then went on to discuss Kevin Youkilis and his mis-managed at-bat last night. Most people believe that Bobby Valentine should have intentionally walked Youk to have the lefty-on-lefty matchup of Lester V. Adam Dunn. Instead, Lester pitched to Youkilis and he hit a three-run home run that put the game out of reach. Gammons discussed what he would have done in that situation and who is to blame for making the decision. What would you have done if you were Bobby V?

Has the pitching coach made an impact on this pitching staff? The guys and Peter Gammons rounded out the segment by discussing the issue of the Red Sox not having a steady pitching coach since the departure of John Farrell.
