Felger & Mazz: Do The Bruins Have To Take Some Blame?
Bruins fans got word last night that Jarome Iginla would soon be a member of the Boston club, but in the early morning hours those initial reports proved to be wrong. The reality was that Iginla would be heading to the Pittsburgh Penguins.
Bruins GM Peter Chiarelli held a press conference in which he explained his dealings with Calgary and his belief that the player was coming to Boston.
"A few days before [Wednesday] we had submitted a firm offer with those two players – Alexander Kokhlachev and Matt Bartkowski – and we were informed around noon yesterday that we had the player. We won the sweepstakes, so to speak," Chiarelli said.

Chiarelli said he was told by Flames general manger Jay Feaster that the only thing holding up finalization of the deal was a conversation with Iginla.
"We relied on the fact that we had a deal," Chiarelli said.
Felger & Mazz took issue with the way the Bruins GM handled the situation and think that he shouldn't have just taken Feaster's word that the deal was good. Do you agree that Chiarelli should have done more to solidify the deal and lock up the player?
