Felger & Mazz: December 18, 2013
Hour 1
Felger and Massarotti opened the day discussing the Boston Bruins 2-0 win over the Calgary Flames and Brad Marchand's boarding call on Flames Sean Monahan. Marchand won't face any discipline for the boarding call, but is Marchand a dirty player? Mike and Tony went on to talk about the rumored trade between the Boston Celtics and Sacramento Kings. Reports say that the Celtics would send Rajon Rondo to the Kings for Isaiah Thomas, Ben McLemore, Marcus Thornton, Jason Thompson and two future 1st-round picks. Should the C's move Rondo? Also, David Ortiz is entering his final season with the Boston Red Sox. Should the Sox give Ortiz an extension? Finally, it's the triumphant return of Marc "The Beetle" Bertrand after his paternity leave. Welcome back, Beetle!
In Hour 2, Felger and Mazz give Marc Bertrand the floor to vent his grievances. Bertrand had a few issues with Mike and Tony while he was out. His first grievance is about the 15-game suspension of Shawn Thornton and how it was covered. Would Bertrand trade Rob Gronkowski for a 1st-round pick? Does David Ortiz deserve a contract extension with the Sox? Who should regulate the play in the NHL? The referees or the players?
Hour 2
Paul Perillo of Patriots Football Weekly joined Felger and Massarotti in Hour 3 to talk some Pats. Has the loss to the Miami Dolphins worried some Patriots fans? Are the Pats still capable of making a deep playoff run? What are the Patriots chance, this Sunday, against the Ravens in Baltimore? What are Paul's thoughts on the pass happy version of the NFL? Finally, Mazz vents about his new puppy and the guys listen to Southern Illinois basketball coach Barry Hinson rip his players.
Hour 3
In the fourth and final hour, Felger and Mazz reset some of the topics they covered earlier. Also, there are reports that the Celtics are interested in Houston Rockets center Omer Asik. Would a trade for Asik make the C's better in the short-term? Should the Sox give David Ortiz a contract extension? To wrap up the day, Marc Bertrand makes his return hosting the Final Word.
