Felger & Mazz: Could Tom Brady Still Get The Job Done At 40?
Felger and Massarotti discussed the New England Patriots and the future of quarterback Tom Brady.
When Brady's contract with the Pats is up, he will be 37 years old. Do you want Brady as your quarterback when he's 40?
When should the Pats start thinking about their quarterback of the future?
Felger and Mazz went through some past QBs that played into their late 30s and even their 40s. The guys also compared other backup quarterbacks who have stepped up after the previous successful quarterback, like Steve Young and Aaron Rodgers. Could Ryan Mallett be the next Aaron Rodgers?
"I'd like to think that [the Patriots] have an idea," Felger said. "[Brian] Hoyer is a free agent after this year. He's looked good in the preseason and I bet he'll look good this August too. ... What do you do with him? Do you try to trade him for draft picks? Try to get second, third-round picks for him? Do you just stick him on the bench and lose him as a free agent for nothing at the end of the year? Do you re-sign him? Is he the guy? ... Or is it Mallett?
"They gotta start thinking about this."
