Felger & Mazz: Cam Neely On The Pressure Of Being Up 2-0
Boston Bruins president Cam Neely joined Felger & Massarotti to discuss the Bruins overtime win last night and the rest of the series against the Flyers.
Cam admits the Bruins stole one in Philadelphia Monday night, and a lot of it had to do with Tim Thomas.
"The way Tim Thomas played he certainly won that game for us, no question," Neely said. "Our team found a way to stay in that hockey game and Tim made it happen."
"A lot of it is confidence and understanding what it's like to play playoff hockey and be an elite goaltending in playoff hockey," he added. "These are all things he wants to be and strives to be."
Neely also responded to Flyers coach Peter Laviolette's comments after Game 2 when he said the pressure is off of Philly since they won't be expected to win the series.
"I think as a coach, what else can he say? He feels like this is what he has to say to get maybe his players, get them feeling confident. I'm not surprised he'd make comments like that."
As for all the pressure being on the Bruins, Neely disagrees.
"That's fine, I can understand that too. We have a lot of players in our lineup that had nothing to do with last year. There is pressures in playoff hockey. Our guys aren't going to get added pressures being up 2-0, that's ridiculous. It's a good place for us to be, we're happy to be up 2-0, but we know Game 3 is going to be a tough game."
Neely also touched on many other topics. What has changed with David Krejci? What's going on with Milan Lucic? Can Tyler Seguin help the Bruins power play?
And what happened to Zdeno Chara in overtime? Felger wants to know, does Chara have to run and hide from the NHL to enjoy a Coke?
